About The Name Foundry

The Name Foundry is a growing collection of free fantasy name generators. Whether you’re rolling up a D&D character, drafting a novel, building a game or just daydreaming a world, the goal is simple: help you find a name that feels right in seconds.

Why we built it

Most name generators online do the bare minimum, a random list, a wall of ads, and names that all sound the same. We wanted something that respects both your time and your craft: names that actually suit the genre, controls that let you steer the result, and an interface that gets out of the way.

What makes it different

• Genuinely free. No paywalls, no trials, no “premium” names held hostage.
• No sign-up. No account or email required, ever. Saved names live on your own device.
• Made to sound right. Each generator is tuned for its subject, with options for tone, length and style.

How it works

Every generator combines hand-built name parts and patterns rather than reading from a static list, so you get fresh results on every click. Some weave sounds into wholly invented names; others blend curated words into evocative pairings. Either way you can steer the tone, lock the parts you like and reroll the rest, then copy or save the keepers.

What’s here

The Foundry spans four families of generator. There are peoples and races (elves, humans, dwarves, orcs and more), beings and monsters (dragons, demons, vampires and the like), places (kingdoms, cities, taverns and forests), and things and groups (guilds, ships, weapons, spells and potions).
