Kinds

Trade guilds and chartered companies, like the Goldhand League or the Coin and Compass.

Arcane

Circles of mages and scholars, like the Veiled Conclave or the Ashlight Academy.

Shadow

Thieves, spies and hidden hands, like the Ashen Hand or the Whisper Court.

Sacred

Temples, cults and holy orders, like the Hallowed Choir or the Ember Faithful.

Naming tips

Making a guild sound real

Lead with what they do

A guild's name should hint at its purpose: an Order suggests sworn duty, a League suggests trade, a Conclave suggests secrets. Match the noun to the work and the name carries weight before anyone explains it.

Pick a kind for the faction

A knightly order sounds nothing like a thieves' cabal. Set the kind to fit who they are, Knightly, Merchant, Arcane, Shadow or Sacred, and the words fall into place.

Refine, don't restart

Found the right two words but the wrong wrapper? Choose the name, hit Refine, and shuffle between Order, Guild and Company while keeping the core.

Questions

Guild Name Generator FAQ

Yes. You can generate unlimited guild, order and faction names for free, with no sign-up. Copy or save any you like and use them however you want.
Absolutely. The names suit guild, order and faction names for worldbuilding in D&D 5e, Pathfinder and most fantasy settings. Pick a kind, generate, and drop your favourite straight into the campaign.
Each kind shapes the mood and the words used: Knightly, Merchant, Arcane, Shadow and Sacred. Leave it on Any for a mix, or pick one to match your scene.
The Form option sets the form word. Order gives sworn bodies: the Order of the Name, the Name Order; Guild gives trade bodies: the Name Guild, the Name League; Company gives companies and bands: the Name Company, the Name Band; None gives just the name, with no form word after it. Leave it on Any for a spread.
Each name pairs a describing word with a noun chosen for the kind, or uses a ready-made phrase, then optionally adds a form word. That means endless original guild names rather than a fixed list.
Yes, for stories, comics, video games, streams and other creative projects. Generated names are not trademarked here, but for a major commercial title it is sensible to do a quick search to make sure your chosen name is not already strongly associated with something else.
No. Each batch is checked against the names you have already seen this visit, so you can generate again and again without repeats. Use Previous to step back to an earlier batch.
