Naming tips

Making a tavern sound real

Picture the sign

Old inn signs were painted boards, so the best names are things you could draw: a prancing pony, a golden stag, a black cauldron. Pair a describing word with a thing and it reads as a real sign.

Match the kind to the scene

A Cosy inn welcomes weary travellers, a Rowdy taproom brews a brawl, a Dockside dive hides smugglers, a Noble house guards its reputation, and an Eerie haunt keeps secrets. Set the kind to fit the scene you need.
